2 Filipino movies I saw recently

One of my Pinay friends wanted me to start watching Tagalog movies so she sent me a few to watch. Now since I've seen a handful, she started to send me more.

This time, a few of the movies have hot and sexy Derek Ramsay!!! He is hawt!



You can always attract me with hot, sexy men with six-pack abs :D



And I Love You So (2009)

Lara (Bea Alonzo), a preschool teacher and owner, is widowed five months after she married her boyfriend of five years, Oliver (Derek Ramsey). Several months after his death, she meets Chris (Sam Milby), a young man also suffering from the loss of his spouse. They become friends and help each other move on. But as their friendship grows, their unmistakable attraction for each other grows. Can these two broken people find love again? Or will the ghosts of their past tear them apart?



The movie started off a bit slow but overall, I liked it.

I have to admit, when I first saw Sam, I was like, no way...but as the movie progressed, I started to love him. He has a soft, yet edgy side to him, which made me love him. Maybe it was his character but I loved him so much in the movie.



Derek is like the perfect husband, a little to perfect for me.

It was Bea's movie all the way. I was a little annoyed with her character at first but I loved how her character transferred from a naive girl to an independent woman.

One More Chance (2007)


Synopsis

Basha (Bea Alonso) is an architect in the same firm as her fiancé Popoy (John Lloyd Cruz), who is an engineer. They belong to the same close-knit group of friends and have been together for five years until Basha gets fed up with Popoy's controlling but well-meaning ways and opts out of the relationship, building a new life for herself. Popoy goes on self-destruct mode but is later able to recuperate in the kind arms of Trisha (Maja Salvador). Basha realizes that he wants him back but things have already gotten too complicated.



Best line - You had me at my best, she loved me at my worst.

Good movie. I loved it. I loved how both characters had to make changes in their lives to know what they have been missing. I love that both characters had to grow because they've been together for so long that they had to find themselves again.



Derek was in the movie just for eye candy :D

John is such an amazing actor! Wow! I am so impress with him! I would like to see more of him.

Bea is cute and sassy. I really like her.

Fmovie - Batanes (2007)

Pam (Iza Calzado) meets Rico (Joem Bascon) an Ivatan, and decides to leave her stressful life in the city to follow him to Batanes to meet his parents Boy and Lydia (Bembol Roco and Daria Ramirez, respectively) and marry him. Pam tries to adapt to the Ivatan way of life but hates the sea that Rico loves so much. Her hatred for the sea intensifies when her husband Rico dies in a fishing accident. Pam is devastated and decides to go back to Manila. But when she sensed that the sea was laughing at her failure, she chose to stay in Batanes to be with Rico's family. In one of her trips to the sea, she accidentally meets Kao Ken Chu, a Taiwanese, whom she rescues during a storm. As they spend time together, the two eventually fall for each other despite language barriers and cultural differences.



One of my Pinay friends have been sending me a few Filipino films to watch. Although I did enjoy Moments of Love and Eternity, Batanes fell a little short.

The beginning was really fast paced but it fell though after the exit of Rico. Afterwards, it was slow and looked like it was shot on a very low budget. I applaud the director for capturing the gorgeousness of the island of Batanes. However,I wanted to see a tighter direction.



The storyline is not bad. It's a case of two people who fall in love who speak different languages. Both had a hurtful past and could relate to each other.

Since the other two Filipino films I've seen starred the lovely Iza Calzado, I didn't mind watching Batanes. I think she can be cute, gorgeous, hot, sexy, all that. She is a good actress. She plays the heartbroken Pam who still loves her deceased husband but finds love with Kao.



The actor who played Rico is good looking! Too bad he had a short role! He plays the husband of Pam. I had to look him up. He is Joem Bascom. I wouldn't mind seeing more of his movies! He is definitely eye candy! I like! Need to see more!



Ken Chu plays Kao. The Taiwanese man who wonders on Batanes and eventually falls for the Filipino beauty, Pam. Ken is a well-known Taiwanese actor/singer.



Worth it only to see how adorable Joem Bascon is. Oh yeah, for Iza Calzado too, she's always great to see!

Fmovie - Moments of Love (2006)

She lives in the past, he lives in the present, ..can love defy the bound of time?

In a sleepy lakeside town, time curves for two people to meet and part. In the end, all that is left are their Moments of Love.



Again, I had a really hard time finding movie stills on Moments of Love, just like I did with Eternity

I saw Eternity and Moments of Love back-to-back. Both are good in their own ways but it was Moments of Love won!



Moments of Love is has the same storyline of the two Korean movies, Il Mare and Ditto. Communicating with someone from the past/future in some kind of way. Very unexplainable.

Whether or not, how unrealistic it is. I still loved the movie. The acting is amazing. I already saw both Dingdong and Iza from Eternity but gosh, they have sizzling chemistry in this movie. And they are rarely shown together!



I officially want to see more Filipino movies

Eternity is an epic romance about a pair of star-crossed lovers Crisanto (Dingdong Dantes) and Milagros (Iza Calzado) and how true love transcends different lifetimes. In the face of family hostilities and atrocities, the two continue to fight for their love until the bitter end.

Cholo (Mark Herras) and Maegan (Jennylyn Mercado) are two different people with different backgrounds, finding each other as if by fate. It’s as if they’ve known each other all their lives! But the young lovers’ romance is thwarted by their respective families’ deep-rooted dislike for each other.

Will history repeat itself? Or will love finally conquer all the odds this time around?



Wow, I have such a hard time finding stills for this movie!!! I'm too lazy to make caps so I decided to find pictures of the four main stars.

My Pinay friend is awesome. We both have been trading movies. She suggested that I started to watch a few of her favorite Filipino movies. Why not? So she sent me two Filipino movies to watch. Although Eternity is not the first Filipino movie I've seen, it definitely is the first one that was recommended to me.

The first Filipino movie I've seen was Cavite. That's only because the Bollywood (Hindi) remade it. The Bollywood title is Aamir. Read my comparisons here at my Indian Cinema blog.



Filipino men are hot.

Dingdong Dantes. I don't love his name but his looks and acting make up for it! He is one of the most popular Filipino stars! He is famous for his acting and good looks.

Iza Calzado is just simply breathtaking, just so gorgeous. She gave me a JLo vibe. She made her Hollywood debut in The Echo, which is a remade of her Filipino movie, Sigaw.



I like her acting and want to see more of her.



Then there's the other lead star, Mark Herras. He's attractive in his own ways and has a youthful look to him.



I adored his character on screen. Acting wise, I cannot say I would want to see more of him but I wouldn't mind.



Lastly, the other heroine of the film, Jennylyn Mercado. I really adore her. Not only is she gorgeous, she was the best, to me, out of everyone in the movie.



I started to read more about Jennylyn. From Wikipedia, I read about her real life scandals and struggles. Because of all that, I like her even more!! She is also a wonderful singer!
